What is the best way to transfer files to ftp.worldfabricators.com FTP site?
Here's how you use our FTP site.
If we have started a project together and you have been provided a Customer# and password:
Please proceed to the FTP site ftp.worldfabricators.com and login to gain access to your Customer# Folder. You can upload and download files from this access by dragging and dropping the files from the window to / from the FTP window to your own computer.
If you would just like to Upload Files and do not have a Customer# and password yet:
You will require a
username and password to upload files to us, please e-mail
us indicating you would like to upload files to us. Once you have
an upload account you can log into the FTP site and upload files. Please
note when you log in you will see an error 'An error occurred opening
that folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have permissions to access
that folder.' This error is an expected error as you can only upload files
to the upload site and cannot see other files that already exist here.
Click OK on
this error and you can upload files by dragging and dropping files from
your computer to the FTP window. Please
remember for best transfer success zip your files into sizes less than
2MB in size using WinZIP.
Best methods to transfer files to us:
Transferring files to us is best done by using WinZIP. For best results in transfers please zip your files in sizes less than 2MB when uploading to our FTP site. If you are trying to upload a file to us and receive a message 'This folder already contains a file called 'filename'. Then you choose 'Yes' and receive the error 'An error occurred copying a file to the FTP Server. Make sure you have permission to put files on the server.' This error has occurred because a file already exists in the folder with the same name, you will not be able to overwrite this file. Please rename the file you are sending then upload the file.
You Have Received 'A Page Cannot Be Found Error' or a 'Permissions Error'.
If you have tried
to access ftp.worldfabricators.com
and have received 'The page cannot be displayed' or a 'Permissions
Error' (even with verified account information). Please follow
these instructions to setup the configuration required for connection:
1) In Internet Explorer go to TOOLS
2) Select INTERNET OPTIONS
3) Select the ADVANCED tab
4) Under the BROWSING section CHECK 'ENABLE FOLDER VIEW FOR FTP SITES'
5) Ensure 'USE PASSIVE FTP (for firewall and DSL Modem compatibility)'
is UNCHECKED
6) Close all Internet Explorer windows - reopen IE, you should be able to view the
FTP login screen and log in now when you go to ftp.worldfabricators.com.
NOTE : these instructions
are for IE5.0 on Windows2000 - if you are using a different platform the
procedure to make this change will be slightly different but the concept
of 'Enable Folder View for FTP Sites' will be the same.
